Young Reporters for the During the interview, students expressed their concerns about the amount of packaging waste produced in schools. They listened to invaluable
informative experiences that Taylan Bilgiç shared and agreed to follow SDG#4 ‘Quality Education’ and SDG#11 ‘Responsible Production and
Consumption’ collaboratively.
Environment We would like to express our thankfulness to Mr.Taylan Bilgiç and Ms.Sonnur Bilgiç for this interview!
Young Reporters: What is the main problem of packaging waste management in Ankara?
meet ÇEVNAK Mr.Bilgiç: Due to the low rate of separation at source, packaging waste is often mixed with organic waste and thrown in the garbage. Daily waste
generation per person in Turkey is 1.12 kg.
Most of this waste goes to the trash and the wastes lose their recycling properties. This is the main reason why our country imports waste from
abroad. Since not enough waste can be recycled in the internal sector, waste is imported from other countries in a dependent manner. This situation
reflects negatively on both environmental impacts and our national economy.
Young Reporters: How can recycling technologies help you reuse your waste?
Ms.Bilgiç: By using recycling technologies, the efficiency and capacity ratio obtained from waste is increased. Today, with rapidly developing
technology and AI, recycling companies that make technological investments come to the forefront. With these methods used during waste
recovery processes, higher quality raw materials are produced and production costs are reduced.
Ari reporters will continue supporting green actions worldwide to make our cities more sustainable.
