THE STUDENTS OF ARI SCHOOLS PRESENTED THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE BY BRINGING SEVERAL DISCIPLINES TOGETHER

Under the guidance of their teachers, Arı Private Elementary Schools’ 4th grade students have just completed the ‘Transdisciplinary Beeteam Project’, which brings different disciplines and English together, aims to reflect English on life by integrating it with other skills and fields and is conducted by school-university synergy. The students of Arı Schools presented their products that they had at the end of the project to their parents in April.

The students reflected their effective foreign language skills on their studies in several disciplines during the project which was carried out under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Buket Akkoyunlu, the academic advisor at Arı Private Schools’ Research and Development Center and the Deputy Dean of Çankaya University Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Dr. Bülent İnal, IBDP Coordinator and the advisor of Arı Schools Foreign Language Education Center and the instructor at Çankaya University.

In the project, the common concepts and themes were determined by working together with the teacher groups of Turkish, Foreign Language, Social Sciences, Science, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education and Visual Arts, the students started their studies at the same time in all disciplines. Within the scope of the project, the students developed various projects to improve their environmental awareness as well as the activities related to a healthy life and recognition of themselves and their surroundings. In the course of these workshops, the students of Arı Schools wrote a digital story in the computer labs, created a new robot using the Edison robots in STEMMaker laboratories, and designed a model taking the output of the 3D printer with the Tinkercat program.

Arı Schools’ students presented their careful work which impressed their parents with their effectiveness and professionalism and received much applaud due to their studies on the determined disciplines and English language skills. At the end of the project, the parents shared their feelings and opinions by writing some notes.
